EDUCATION COMMITTEE

Committee Purpose:

Plan, conduct, monitor and evaluate seminars or workshops for the overall education needs of the industry and offer BOMI (Building Owners and Managers Institute) classes for the RPA (Real Property Administrator), FMA (Facilities Management Administrator), and SMA (Systems Maintenance Administrator) programs.


Committee Staffing:

The committee shall consist of a Chairman/woman and at least six (6) committee members,who shall be members of BOMA/Philadelphia in good standing. The Chairman shall appoint the Education Committee Chairman and the Chairman, with the help of the existing Education Committee members, shall appoint new committee members.


Committee Meetings:

The Education Committee shall meet as needed, but shall attempt to meet at least six (6) times per year.


Committee Responsibilities

  • Researches the development and improvement of specific activities within an overall education program.
  • Regularly reviews and evaluates all aspects of the education program.
  • Plans, promotes, monitors, and evaluates short courses, clinics, or seminars to be set up within the Association.
  • Promotes the education programs and professional designations through advertising, announcements at meetings, newsletters, and press releases.
  • Selects dates, time, locations, speakers and/or instructors for seminars or classes.
  • Creates and coordinates distribution of all promotional material and press releases and coordinates with staff for efficient operation of all activities.
  • Monitors the Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI), programs, policies, and procedures and recommends actions to the Board of Directors.
  • Responsible for the BOMA/Philadelphia-BOMI Scholarship Program, which include:
  • Promote the Program;
  • Recommend to the Board of Directors its policy and procedures in reviewing the applicants for the Program;
  • Receive all applications for scholarships, review and qualify the applicants, select and award the scholarship;
  • Submits committee report for inclusion at the Board meetings
