BOMA/BOLR SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE

Purpose:

Establish an Agreement between BOMA/Philadelphia/BOLR and The Philadelphia Foundation and develop criteria for the BOMA/BOLR Scholarship Fund. The purpose of the Fund is to provide scholarships to the children of members of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) 32BJ, Local 36, who are employed in a Building Operators Labor Relations (BOLR) member building; the children of individuals involved full time in the management and/or maintenance of a Building Owners and Managers Association of Philadelphia BOMA/Philadelphia) member building; and the children of the designated representative on file for Associate Member companies are eligible for the scholarship.  The scholarship funds are for tuition, books and fees to attend any non-profit two-year college (community college), four year college or university, or vo-tech school.


Specific Duties:

  • Members of the Committee will be comprised of three (3) members of BOMA/Philadelphia and three (3) members of BOLR as appointed by their respective Board of Directors, any may adopt procedures as it deems appropriate to make its recommendations.
  • Establish and update, as needed a Selection Criteria for scholarship applicants.
  • Prepares Scholarship Application form.
  • Reviews scholarship applications and selects individuals eligible for the Scholarship program.
  • Promotes the Scholarship Fund to members of BOMA/Philadelphia and BOLR through monthly newsletter, news media, and monthly meetings. etc.
  • Develops budget for inclusion in the association budget and approval by the Board.
  • Submits committee report, including statement from The Philadelphia Foundation outlining the investments, for inclusion at the Board meetings.
