BOMI is dedicated to improving the skills of professionals with property, facilities, and systems responsibilities. BOMI is known for its industry-standard designations: RPA (Real Property Administrator), FMA (Facilities Management Administrator), SMT (Systems Maintenance Technician), SMA (Systems Maintenance Administrator), and HP (High Performance Sustainable Buildings).

History
Since 1970, BOMI International has set educational standards in the commercial property industry through specialized courses and the industry-standard designations. BOMI International offers a variety of study options: Classroom Study, Self-Study, Accelerated Review and Contract Sales.
BOMI Designations

To earn the RPA designation, students must successfully complete the following six mandatory courses plus the Ethics Is Good Business Short Course:
Budgeting and Accounting
Real Estate Investment and Finance
Environmental Health and Safety Issues
Law and Risk Management
The Design, Operation, and Maintenance of Building Systems, Part I
The Design, Operation, and Maintenance of Building Systems, Part II
Plus, successfully complete one other course from the following four electives:
Leasing and Marketing for Property Managers
Asset Management
Managing the Organization

The SMA and SMT programs offer two levels of proficiency for career development. The first five courses detail specific operating systems and make up the SMT program. To earn the SMT designation, students must successfully complete the following five mandatory courses:
Refrigeration Systems and Accessories
Air Handling, Water Treatment and Plumbing Systems
Electrical Systems and Illumination
Boilers, Heating Systems, and Applied Mathematics
Energy Management and Controls
Three additional courses round out the program by addressing the broad issues of concern to systems administrators. Added to the five above (SMT program), these three courses will earn you the SMA designation:
Managing the Organization
Building Design and Maintenance
