ASHRAE Guideline 36 is part of a growing line of standards such as 62.1, 90.1, 189.1 and others that are aimed at driving energy efficiency, comfort, and proper indoor environmental quality in commercial buildings. Guideline 36 has the specific purpose of providing uniform sequences for HVAC systems that are intended to maximize HVAC system efficiency and performance, provide control stability, and allow for real-time fault detection and diagnostics. Michael Helm is the President and Principal of Radius Systems, a Building Automation, Security, and Lighting Systems Integrator based out of Chadds Ford, PA. Michael is a licensed Professional Engineer in PA, NJ, and DE, as well as a Certified Energy Manager, Certified Energy Auditor, and Certified Building Commissioning Professional. With over 39 years in the Building Automation Systems industry, Mike has a wide range of BAS experience and expertise in HVAC and lighting automation, energy management, and systems integration, and can provide practical insights into common facility control issues and facility optimization, as well as current and future direction of BAS technology.
