The theme for Earth Day 2024 is “Planet vs. Plastics”, which unites students, parents, businesses, governments, churches, unions, individuals, and NGOs in an unwavering commitment to call for the end of plastics for the sake of human and planetary health, demanding a 60% reduction in the production of plastics by 2040 and an ultimate goal of building a plastic-free future for generations to come.
Because a green future is a prosperous future.
We need to act (boldly), innovate (broadly), and implement (equitably). It’s going to take all of us. All in. Businesses, governments, and citizens — everyone accounted for, and everyone accountable. A partnership for the planet.
And while there is still time to solve the climate crisis, time to choose BOTH a prosperous and sustainable future, and time to restore nature and build a healthy planet for our children and their children, time is short.
In order to recognize the BOMA Building or Organization that best embodies the principles of Earth Day, BOMA Philadelphia and the Sustainable Engineering & Operations Committee are once again encouraging all members to submit an entry for the 2024 BOMA Philadelphia Earth Day Award!
Human health and wellness are foundational tenets of LEED, and over 70% of the credits in the rating system tie back directly to human health and wellness strategies. Showcase your pioneering green building projects that are leading the way in being resource efficient and providing healthy, productive spaces for their occupants and significant returns for their owners and investors.
Applicants are asked to submit this form as well as any appropriate backup, highlighting any environmental, sustainable and/or health & wellness projects that they have completed within their building. New and Existing Buildings can apply. Projects can include recycling programs, healthy food programs, air quality systems, sustainable energy practices, Greening or environmentally enhanced landscaping projects.
We want to see the environmental/sustainable/health & wellness project of which you are most proud.
The Sustainable Engineering & Operations Committee will then select one winner from a new construction project and one winner from an existing building we feel most embodies the Earth Day Concept.
Congratulations to the 2023 Earth Day Winners!
