This event holds immense significance as it marks both the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in our nation and the first few deaths in our nation. The 5th Annual Lighting Ceremony is a solemn occasion where hundreds of families impacted by the pandemic come together to remember their loved ones. Some travel across the USA to stand together. We gather to commemorate those who lost their lives during this challenging time and to honor the essential heroes who tirelessly worked to save others. As we light lanterns to represent the more than 1.2 million American lives lost, we create a beacon of hope and remembrance. This year, our event has a global reach. Thousands of people will be watching virtually, joining us from different corners of the world. Additionally, we are collaborating with the UK, where Belfast City Hall will also be illuminated in solidarity with our cause.
